Description:

The Parlor Mob make raw rock and roll with a modern edge. It is quite fitting that the band derived its moniker from a notorious 19th century gang of the same name. Around the mid 1800s, the historical New York hoodlums were commissioned by other street gangs to incite riots. Today, these five musical renegades spark a similar explosion, but with verbose riffs, thought provoking vocals and a smooth yet raucous groove.
The Parlor Mob recorded And You Were a Crow with producer Jacquire King (Tom Waits, Kings of Leon, Modest Mouse) in the fall of 2007. Relocating to Asheville, North Carolina, they brought the songs to life in the Echo Mountain
Recording studio. Jacquire stayed with the band and he was quickly welcomed into The Parlor Mob family. ;He just became the sixth member of the band, comments Mark.He had an almost paternal role. He was there for us. He got the best out of us, and he took it so seriously. It was pretty amazing. Dave goes on,He was emotionally invested in the record. The songs are really important and close to us. Jacquire felt the same way.
The New Jersey based band formerly went by the name What About Frank , the name under which they were twice voted Best Live Band at the Asbury Park Music Awards. They changed their name in 2006. They have honed their live skill from years of live performances including playing on the Van's Warped Tour, The CMJ Music Marathon, The Great Bamboozle Festival in Asbury Park and Austin's South By Southwest Festival. The band is currently touring the US in support of Nicole Atkins and the Seas.

4The Parlor Mob - Great New Hard Rock From New Jersey  Aug 25, 2010
The Parlor Mob hail from New Jersey and this is their debut album. These guys mine a somewhat retro take on modern hard rock with Led Zeppelin being an obvious influence. This is a really great album full of wailing vocals, twin lead guitar and heavy drums and bass. Highlights include "Hard Times", "When I Was An Orphan", "Tide Of Tears" and the album closer "Can't Keep A Good Boy Down". I think that these guys have a very bright future in front of them

5The parlor mob  Jul 30, 2010
The bigger question here is, why isnt there an outlet for this type of music anymore. many great new bands seem to go undiscovered because thier music is not being heard. On FM radio anyway. FM is a dead format. I heard these guys on internet radio and instantly liked them. This is a simplistic wrap up, but they seem to remind me of a modern Led Zepplin. I hope these guys make it, I really like this lp.

5A new classic  Apr 07, 2010
This band has such a classic rock sound, but very unique. The songs on the album cover a range of tempos and emotions. From start to finish this is one of the most complete and compelling albums I have heard in the last few years.

4Sounds like.  Feb 10, 2010
Knou how Kingdom Come based there sound around Led Zeps Kashmir wich is cool,I love KC's music. anyway. To me it sounds like The parlor Mob is basing there sound around Led Zeps That's The Way.To me it sounds like.I love a band that tries to put meaning in thier songs. If anyone agrees or dissagrees w/ me,write a review I'm interested what you have to say.Later.

4Not Led Zep, but worth every cent  Dec 21, 2009
The resemblance of the voice of Marc Melicia to Robert Plant's is too strong to ignore. Perhaps it lacks some undertones and a bit of power, but it's a strong, unusual and pleasant voice. The mood in general reminds "Black Dog", Rock'n'Roll" (ZoSo), although the compositions are a bit messy (to my taste). But there is no unnecessary silly grunting, there is a well defined melody, and the musicians sound confident. An excellent band, and a very decent album. Artwork is minimalistic and classy. Well above many contemporary bands, and worth every cent spent
