The most amazing connection to fans I've ever seen... May 22, 2009 I'm just going straight to the heart for this one....
Tonight, I watched Green Day's live DVD called "Bullet In A Bible" .. The effect that this had on me was absolutely profound... I don't know how to explain it... they played in front of 65,000 people for two nights, totaling 130,000 people... The reason this DVD made me feel the way it did, was because of the connection Green Day has to their audience...
I don't know if i'm just more sensitive than people, or if everyone can feel this, but when watching this DVD, I felt, like i was 65,000 people... I felt like I had the heart and energy and soul of 65,000 people... The connection, that this band fosters amongst their audience, and between themselves as well, has got to be one of the most amazing examples of hapiness, love, fun, pain, and beauty that I have ever seen..
If you haven't seen this DVD, I would recomend it to you... i'd reccomend it to goldfish who can't remember 3 seconds into their past, I can guarantee if you brought a goldfish to a Green Day concert it would transform into some type of super dolphin that could talk and thank you for bringing it there... mark my words... (don't mark my words, it's just an example of the power and unbeliveable love and personal connection they share when they're up there playing their music..) The reason this DVD has touched me the way it has, is because I saw myself up on that stage the whole time, connecting the way Billy Joe did... I was him... and I know that I can do what I just witnessed him doing... I am that... I pray I have the audience to demonstrate this one day...
It's not the music that moved me, so much as the members and the way they connect to everyone there... Billy Joe, Tre Cool, and Mike Dirnt... I've never felt anything like it...
I am going to see them on Tuesday, July 28th, 2009 at Madison Square Garden in New York City... both shows, are sold out... but if you can get tickets.. I don't care if you've never even heard of them/don't like them... I promise you, you will leave feeling better than you did coming into the show.. a whole lot better.. there's something amazing that happens at a Green Day concert that goes much deeper than just playing music...

So close to perfection Mar 28, 2009 I had really high hopes for Bullet in a Bible, Green Day's first live CD/DVD following the release of their insanely brilliant 2004 album American Idiot. Seeing the epic videos the band put together for American Idiot convinced me their live show would be spectacular, and I hoped Bullet in a Bible would capture that.
For the most part, the Bullet in a Bible DVD was everything I had hoped for - a great performance, massive crowd, great editing, stage theatrics, you name it. Unfortunately the concert is broken up after each song for interview and other backstage/offstage footage. It's all interesting and entertaining stuff, but couldn't they have saved it for a bonus feature documentary and given us an uninterrupted concert? The band builds up this great energy on each song, and then it's gone in a Rattle & Hum switch to the band touring a museum. My other gripe is that I wish they had performed American Idiot in its entirety (like My Chemical Romance did on The Black Parade is Dead) before going back to the older stuff.
That said; I really did enjoy the DVD and the band's performance is absolutely incredible. That's where the Bullet in a Bible audio CD is such a great addition. You get the live concert and nothing but the live concert, and the sound quality is incredible.
If you're a Green Day fan, particularly of their American Idiot album, you really have to check out Bullet in a Bible. It's one of the better live DVDs I've seen recently, and were it not for the constant interruptions it would have been a 5-star release for sure.
I've seen them in the early days and this is just as good Dec 31, 2008 It's funny to read the reviews from people declaring this band a "sell-out" and how they don't play shows like they used to. I've seen them play in a pizza parlor before they even released a record and I've seen this arena show. They were awesome back then, but I was really surprised how well this show was in such a large venue. It is difficult to play an arena show with the same intimacy as a small club. It is just a different type of show. It's not better nor is it worse. I thought this was a great show and I like the fact that Billie Joe can perform a little without the guitar. This adds a little intimacy in the arena type of venue. All in all a great show.
Excellent Concert Oct 21, 2008 This is an excellent concert and a well made DVD.
It has good quality video and audo.
They have spliced in behind the scenes footage and current interviews with the band between songs on the DVD.
Including a CD of the music from the DVD is great as you can listen
to it on your stereo too!
A Spectacular Performance! Jun 18, 2008 I'm not an oldie Sweet Children fan, but I'm not an American Idiot newbie ether. I started listening to Green Day when I was ten, when I believe Warning came out. I than started storing and stashing all the Green Day Cds, from Dookie to Warning into my crappy cd player and playing the cds over and over again, memorizing the songs and singing them to my heart. Than I moved on, that is, till Green Day's American Idiot Album came out and hit stores with a BANG! I listened to the cd, found it nice and very catchy, like a lot of Green Day albums, but with a different new flavor. Green Day jumped past its Warning and Nimrod to a whole new level, and everybody in the world took notice.
As we all know, Green Day had evolved from being Sweet Children, punky little kids whom played at "86," and belonged to Lookout! Records and than went over to Reprise Records. The majority of punk bands turned their backs on Green Day, dubbing them as sell outs, ect... Green Day became popular with their first hit album, Dookie, which was phenomenal and than kicked out some new albums and slowly, bit by bit, went downhill out of the eyes of pop punk music fans till American Idiot boosted them into the spotlight they had achieved with Dookie again.
Bullet In A Bible is a nice CD to add to your Green Day collection. The live music is nice and crisp, and the live DVD concert in England was awesome. I particularly liked the interviews in-between each performance and laughed at all the brits being interviewed. They played songs from their newest album American Idiot, and than played some of there old treasures that brought back memories, particular the awesome Minority and Longview! My favorite would have to be Shout! which I play over and over again till you would I think I would be tired of it. Billie Joe Armstrong's voice and his performance on stage was great, they are really good at what they do, especially the hyper active, crazy Tre Cool on the drums and the mellow, cool Mike Dirnt on the base guitar and vocals. I think Green Day will go down in history as the greatest Pop Punk band, smashing out the silly duplicates of Blink 182 as well as the other Pop Punk bands that sprang up after Green Day to claim there "15 minutes," of fame.
So if you didn't get to go to their big concert in England, go to the store or order Bullet In A Bible! You won't be disappointed, I sure wasn't, and lets give Green Day a round of applause and cheer for their newest album that is coming out later this year!
