The Perfect Introduction, Feb 27, 2010 This is the perfect introduction to this band because it is nowhere near as good as their other albums, most of which are PHENOMENAL.
Since We've Been Wrong- Side note; if you download this album, you will get nine tracks, if you buy it on cd, you will get eight. the reason is that the first track is essentially a one note synth song lasting about a minute and a half, and on the cd, it is consolidated with this song. Aside from that, wait about a minute and a half and the real song begins.
The lyrics are extremely well written, and convey the message that cedric intends. Musically, it makes for a good opener, however i find that the drums when they come in seem out of place or time.
Teflon- If you ask me, the lyrics here are worth looking at, but this song is essentially filler compared to the rest of the album, I find it musically uninteresting.
Halo of Nembutals- not bad, better than teflon at least, but once again, little more than filler to me.
With Twilight as my Guide- If this is the "acoustic album" this song is why. It is only simple arpeggiated chords, however THIS is where Cedric Bixler-Zavala shines the brightest.
a. Because it demonstrates his amazing vocal range,
b. the harmonies here are beautifully performed,
c. the lyrics are full of imagery, and are extremely intricate
First song i really noticed on the album. and this is where all the good songs begin
Cotopaxi- To me, Teflon sounded like a knock off of this. Just an awesome rocker, with good lyrics to boot.
Desparate Graves- it was this song, and since we've been wrong, that I liked from the samples. Another hard rocker, with a darker feel. One of my favorites on the album
Copernicus- the quietest song on the album. Only listen to this when you are alone and everything is quiet.
It has harmonies reminiscent of with twilight as my guide, and lyrics that could be about a kidnapping.
very well done.
Luciforms- I don't listen to this much, but it is a nice ending, and good lyrics.
overall, I would not call this the acoustic album, but the "Harmony Album."
Also, a little advisory, I would buy these albums in stores if you are a CD nut, because they are way overpriced here.
there best yet Jan 28, 2010 A superb cd, with great lyrics and layers of innovative music. Very excited about this group!!
Another great Mars Volta album Jan 01, 2010 I really have no complaints about this album. I'd say it's milder and more concise than previous albums.
unexpected, yet really good Dec 15, 2009 I'm a huge fan of The Mars Volta, so I had a bias opinion before even listening to this album. I must say they definitely took a different approach to this album. It has a more subdued, laid back vibe than what the band is normally known for. This was, in a way, kind of refreshing to see them try new things. The production and mix quality is top notch. I highly recommend this album if you like progressive rock or are a fan of The Mars Volta.

Uhhhh Dec 09, 2009 I haven't even been able to listen to more that a few minutes of this album without turning it off in boredom. The only reason it's getting two stars is I haven't listened to all of it yet. Maybe there's that one good song, but chances are I won't find it.
