5BEST AC/DC ALBUM PERIOD!!  Jul 07, 2010
Powerage is without a doubt AC/DC's best album ever released. It's a shame that it is overshadowed by the "Black In Black" album and "Let There Be Rock". Bon's lyrics are outstanding in this album, from the Las Vegas centered "Sin City" to the great bluesy feel of "Gone Shootin'". This album just keeps throwing hard hitting, straight forward AC/DC music at you.Vanda and Young understand how AC/DC want to sound and they showed that on this great album.

If you haven't picked this album up yet, I highly recommend you do.Even if you're not a crazy, AC/DC fan like myself, this album should be recognized.I would pick this album over Black In Black any day and I'm not disrespecting Brian Johnson in anyway. Black In Black is still a great album as well but it's no where near "Powerage".

5Essential!!  Jun 16, 2010
OK, so everyone prefers Back in Black. It has the hit singles. It made Angus and the boys gazillionaires. But Powerage, my friends, is the best AC/DC album, and one of the greatest rock and roll records of all time. You can't beat Bon, and the rawness is still intact. Every single song is a killer.....all killer, no filler. Sin City, Down Payment Blues, Riff Raff (covered by the Columbian Neckties), Up to My Neck, Kicked in the Teeth.....play at maximum volume for best effect.
Probably one of the top 20 or so essential rock and roll records of all time right up there with Zeppelin II, Never Mind the Bollocks, etc.

5It is the best  Jun 16, 2010
Simply put this is the best Bon era ACDC cd you can buy. Lets face it - they are all great, but for me this one has it. Sin City? 'nuff said. Gimme a bullet? Classic with a K. Downpayment Blues? ditto. Rock 'N Roll Damnation? Get in. They are all totally killer. This was my first ACDC album, on vinyl, and I took a chance that has been re-payed a thousand times over. If you are touching a toe in the Pre Johnno 'DC water then this is the one to try. Trust me...I am certainly not a doctorrrrr... and even Keith Richards agrees with me! Or was it Cliff...

4One of the best AC/DC albums  May 25, 2010
Casual AC/DC fans tend to overlook Powerage since the songs here don't tend to get much airplay and the album gets lost in the wake of the undeniable classics, Highway to Hell and Back in Black. That being said, Bon Scott writes some of his best lyrics and delivers some of his best vocals here. Although Highway to Hell is the most popular Bon fronted album, I think Mutt Lange underused him. Bon is very much in front on this album with vocals ranging from bar band drawl to fearsome shouter. The lyrics are clever and accessible and bear multiple listens very well. In addition, the guitar work on this album is amazing. Riff Raff is some of Angus and Malcolm Young's best work, bar none. Rock and Roll Damnation and Sin City are great hard rock songs while Give Me a Bullet, Gone Shooting and Down Payment Blues hint towards a "road not traveled" style of blues rock that is every bit as engaging as the arena bombast of the band's more well-known albums.

4Codger likes Powerage  Feb 07, 2010
Powerage was recommended by my son as the best AC/DC album. Bon Scott is the singer.

Bought the album before the Wellington concerts. The concert was a blast. These guys are great performers.

The album is just good solid dependable rock n roll.
