Description:

The UK’s finest, multiple award-winning artist Estelle is back with a brand new album on a brand new label. Signed by US ‘Soul Sensation’ John Legend to his Homeschool label, the album is a joint venture between Homeschool and Atlantic Records.

"I have known John for a while now...we worked on my first album 18th day before he was signed. He featured on "Hey Girl," played piano on "Free," and appeared in the video. As I went to do my second album I asked him to help exec-produce it. As I progressed with it, I left my label and he said he’d sign me and here we are today. We always make great songs together. While I like and listen to a lot of musicians - there aren’t many I respect on a level to help me write songs or upgrade/push me as an artist...but John is one of them."

The album features collaborations with the likes of Kanye West, Will.I.Am, Wyclef Jean, Mark Ronson, Ceelo, Swizz Beatz who are just some of the ‘hitmakers’ that Estelle has been in the studio with...and of course, John Legend.

5shine - Estelle  May 19, 2009
This album is GREAT! From the beginning to end it keeps moving and has so many different styles you can't get bored. It is one of the best female hip/hop+pop albums I have bought in a long time.

3A few tracks away from classic.  Feb 11, 2009
It upsets me that I did not pay this album any attention until early '09. I first heard 'American Boy' last summer and I thought that it was a cool catchy song but it's nothing compared to the rest of the album. Estelle's voice is very sultry on 'Shine' which is a great title track, by the way. The sound of the album is reminiscient of a Caribbean vibe. She even ryhmes on 'So Much Out The Way', a track with Wyclef playing hype man but with a groovy version of Bob Marley's 'So Much Things To Say' for the hook. I'm sure that you have heard 'Come Over' and guess what...the other songs get even sexier than that! Check out the album, I think it's better than Jazmine Sullivan's new joint (and I like that one!)

4Great CD!!  Feb 03, 2009
I really like this CD, I just pop it in and I let it ride. I first heard it at a party and ordered it the next day. Estelle has a nice style!!

5Great  Jan 18, 2009
I love this cd. I previewed it before I purchased it and it met my expectations. You will not be disappointed with her style of music.

2Okay, but I found it disappointing.   Jan 13, 2009
I got this album on the strength of the single, "American Boy." Unfortunately nothing else on this album is anywhere need as good. Estelle is not a strong vocalist. She sings in a sort of breathy, whispery way. Which is fine but can wear on you over the course of a whole album. "American Boy's" cool mid-tempo groove was perfect accompaniment, but the production on the rest of the tracks is lacking. In my opinion the production sounds dated, which also might be why I don't like it. Maybe 5 or 6 years ago this album would have sounded great but now it just seems well, dated. Estelle at times tries to compensate her weak vocals by rapping, but I didn't like her rapping much. So far it looks like people on here overwhelmingly disagree with me about this album, but I can't recommend it.
