This is great Dec 20, 2008 I am new to Shinedown, and bought this after listening to one song on the radio a lot, and then watching some tracks on uTube. I love this album. Even my wife loves it, which surprised me, I don't know why. I like listening to a wide range of music from heavy metal to classical, and this is just the thing to listen to when I don't want anything else. It is just hard enough, but has a classic rock sound I love.
Can't get enough! Oct 23, 2008 I have never written a review for anything before but this album is so good that I felt compelled to do so. I cannot stop listening to this CD. While I love just about everything on it, there are a few tracks that stand out for me:
1. Devour - An intense hard rocker inspired by the band's visit to the troops in Iraq. This one is like an angry punch in the gut...Wow!
2. Sound of Madness - Simply a great title track. You can't help but tap your foot or pound your fists to this song.
3. The Crow and the Butterfly - This one is my favorite. I love the beautiful arrangement on this.
4. If You Only Knew - Very catchy, upbeat love song. Brent's voice sounds amazing (as always).
5. Breaking Inside - Lots of emotion. I hope they release this one as a single.
The three bonus tracks are really good too. I especially like, I Own You. This is Shinedown's best effort so far. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves good, solid rock music.
Note: If you like this, check out both releases from the band Alter Bridge.
AMAZING Oct 08, 2008 I heard SHINEDOWN's old stuff and met them this 08' summer when their new stuff was just coming out, and I fell more in love with the soul of their music. I had to get the limited edition. I am addicted to the song "If you only knew." I must highly recommend!
Amazing album Oct 07, 2008 This album is amazing.....the band has grown in their musicianship and lyric writing. Its harder then Us & Them....which is still a great album ..even if it was tamer and radio friendly. This album starts out with a bang and then lulls you in with the standard ballads....but the ballads are still great, great lyrics and singing. The hard rockers on the album are fist pumping headbanging anthems that would sound great in any arena. The song What A shame is truly a magnifcant song...and really shows Brents southern rock bloodline. Even though compared to STP by themselves and others...i find that the songs and lyrics are much better then anything STP ever did. The regular album is a bit short at 41 minutes so it is nice to have the 3 extra songs on the LE version.
If you think the CD is good Check them out in Concert! WOW! Sep 05, 2008 So, I picked the CD up at the concert in Spokane when they were touring here recently! Like everyone here says...they do not dissapoint? The cd rips through all kinds of emotions but I like the second chance song the most. Guess I am kinda mellow like that. But Devour makes you want to pound on your steering wheel going down the road! Keep it up guys...and congrats on your little boy!
